Since the foundation of Karazin University on January 29, 1805, it has given the world and provided training for high-class doctors who have gone down in the history of mankind thanks to their invaluable contribution to the development of medical science and practice: Nobel laureate and immunologist I. I. Mechnikov, therapist D. F. Lambl, surgeons P. M. Shumlyansky, V. F, Grube and M. P. Trinkler, obstetrician I. P. Lazarevich, ophthalmologist L. L. Hirshman, physiologist V. Ya. Danilevsky and many others.
V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is one of the oldest classical universities in Eastern Europe, included in the TOP-500 best universities in the world according to the prestigious international rating QS World University Rankings (Great Britain).
Over its almost 220-year history, Karazin University has given the world over 150,000 graduates, including three Nobel Prize laureates and hundreds of outstanding scientists, whose contribution to the development of science and human civilization is difficult to overestimate.
Today, Karazin University consists of 6 scientific and educational institutes, 17 faculties, 131 departments and about 200 master’s and bachelor’s degree programs for 16,000 students, including about 4,000 citizens of 57 countries of the world.
At all times, Karazin University has been and is a powerful educational and scientific center of Ukraine, a symbol of the invincible hero city of Kharkiv, the cradle of democracy and freedom.
